Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Pro Review - Phone Reviews
This review will concentrate on the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Pro. The reason for this is simple: it's the most popular Android phone currently on the market, and that means it's got to have a good story to tell. So let's start with a brief history lesson.
Xiaomi is a Chinese electronics equipment manufacturing company located in the southern part of the country. It first started selling cell phones some five years back and quickly branched out into other consumer electronics. It has since gained a lot of popularity in the mobile market. Recently, the company released its latest model - the Black Shark.
Before we dive into the review, there are a few things to mention about the company. One thing is clear: the company produces quality products. The Mi5 is arguably one of the best phones currently on the market. Another good thing about the company is that it markets phones responsibly. They don't just release a high-budget phone that nobody will buy. Instead, they offer a phone that is good value for money without sacrificing too many features or parts.
One of the features that people like the most about the Mi is the dual camera setup. This is on a separate face that opens automatically when you push a little harder on the home button. The feature works quite well, but there's one problem. It's not very reliable. It only records videos in a very narrow angle. This means if you have an extremely tall or narrow face, the captured footage will be very cropped and won't look as good.
One of the most important features for a smartphone is the display. This is probably the most important on any phone - you'll want to be able to see everything clearly. The Xiaomi Black Shark has a full QHD display, but only on the face. This means that if you have a large face, then the phone might look a little flat and not that bright.
The Mi5 also has a fingerprint scanner, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, it's not the most convenient way to unlock the phone. You have to slide your finger down the sensor instead of simply tapping the Home key. This can lead to frustration if you need to make a few extra clicks to get into your phone. Fortunately, the fingerprint scanner is a touch sensitive pad, so it's easy to get used to.
In the review, I mentioned that the Mi5 is not as robust as some other phones. This is because it's not as versatile. For example, it doesn't support the fast charger standard, meaning that you'll need to bring a charger with you if you want to top off your phone. Also, the phone has a very short battery life - two hours on the whole. This can be great if you're traveling, but it may not be enough for the type of work you'll be doing.
The Mi5 definitely isn't perfect. It's not too bulky, nor does it have the most futuristic look. But it's not bad. It just has its fair share of issues, which the review addresses.
The Mi5 is slightly bigger and heavier than some other phones. That's not such a big deal, however. It's a trade-off for the excellent design and power/speed capabilities. There is also no microSD slot, so expansion cards will need to be bought separately. You also can't use these cards on an AT&T phone, so you will need to buy an international SIM card if you want those benefits.
Speaking of benefits, the Mi5 has a few. It's packed with features including internet applications, YouTube, and email. These are all excellent. It's just nice to have those things as part of a phone.
In the review, I mentioned that the Mi5 packs a lot of power, even though it's a little on the heavy side. That's true. It's not as massive as the iPhone, but it certainly feels solid. The weight isn't really something that will influence the way you use the phone, though. I got plenty of battery life out of the phone, even when I was using the loudest files on my phone, playing the hardest game, and streaming the highest quality videos.
